Mystical Interludes

Emily Radovich, local author of Mystical Interludes: An Ordinary Person's Extraordinary Experiences, tells about the astonishing and unexpected mystical events, which Emily kept from most of her family and friends throughout her life for fear of being ridiculed. Her near-death experience at age 18 seemed to open a door that enabled the many unexplainable occurrences that followed, such as accidentally saving an infant's life, dreaming winning lottery numbers, and many others.

Join us for an exciting book talk that will inspire you to contemplate your own life's extraordinary moments.

Crazy 8's Math Club Session 1

Children must be enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 2

Join Bedtime Math’s Crazy 8s Afterschool Club, where you’ll build stuff, run and jump, make music, make a mess…it’s a totally new kind of math club. Make mischief and memories with activities like Glow-in-the-Dark Geometry, Bouncy Dice and Toilet Paper Olympics. You’ll get to take home some cool gadgets, too!

Please register only once for all 8 weeks. There will be no class on October 31.

Weekly Sessions:

Glow-in-the-Dark Geometry: Make geometric shapes using glowsticks. Lay out the sticks to create mystical repeating patterns. Then flick off the lights to see it all glow!

Bouncy Dice Explosion: Your big chance to throw things because you’re supposed to. Find out the probability of rolling a 2 or a 5 then try to be the winning chip on a giant human Bingo board.

Spy Training: See if you have what it takes to be a spy. You’ll break different codes for clues to find the hidden treasure!

Time of Your Life: What makes you tick? “Be” the hands of an analog clock and discover hidden the math in a digital clock before time runs out!

Crazy Card Club: Crazy 8s isn’t just the name of our club; it’s also a famous card game! Learn how to play it and other fun games using a deck of cards you get to keep!

Flying Marshmallows: Send marshmallows flying through the air using popsicle sticks and rubber bands. Figure out what positions work best, then measure the flight to prove it.

Let’s Get Loud: Experiment with water and straws to create different sounds, then build a working pan flute! After all that, find out exactly how loud you are, down to the numbers.

Toilet Paper Olympics: Bet you never knew sports and toilet paper could go together, huh? Put your Olympian skills to the test in the shot put, long jump, and relay race events.
