Book Discussion

A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towels. Led by Nana Greller.

Placed under house arrest by the Bolsheviks in 1922, Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov, “unrepentant aristocrat,” is moved from his luxurious suite at Moscow’s Metropole Hotel to a tiny attic room. From there he rubs elbows with spies, thieves, and royalty, befriends a nine-year-old girl, has a love affair with a famous actress, and becomes head waiter at the hotel’s famed restaurant. As the Count gradually accepts his confinement and even comes to enjoy it, we witness thirty years of Russian history through his wise, knowing eyes.

Everyone is welcomed to enjoy a lively discussion and refreshments! Copies of the books are available at the library.

Refreshments served.
