Read to Baxter
Baxter is a 20lb mini-schnauzer mix and is a very chill pup. Baxter became a therapy dog through the Pets and People Foundation.  Baxter has his All-Star Puppy and Canine Good Citizen certification through the American Kennel Club (AKC). When he is with people his favorite thing to do is sit in their lap and cuddle.  Baxter is a great friend for reluctant readers or children who want to practice reading out loud to a judge free audience.

Wolfgang Mozart is recognized world-over as one of the greatest composers who has ever lived. In this four-part program we will be hearing and discussing some of the music composed during his early years, as well as hearing a wide sampling of the many masterpieces written during his maturity.

No formal knowledge of music history or theory will be required.

A retired Clinical Psychologist, Robert Oakan has had a second career teaching Music History and Appreciation courses at Northwestern Connecticut Community College. More recently he has presented programs on the music of Mozart and Beethoven at the Westborough Public Library and Senior Center.

Join us for this four-week presentation.

An informal evening of good food and good conversation! Cynthia Carlson, a Shrewsbury resident, will coordinate this book group. A cookbook will be selected and participants will each make a recipe from that cookbook and bring it to the library to share with others in the group. Copies of the cookbook will be available for checkout at the library. The library will provide paper plates, cups, napkins and plastic utensils; cooks will bring serving utensils. Bring extra containers for leftovers! 

This month, we will be selecting recipes from Trisha's Table: my feel-good favorites for a balanced life by Trisha Yearwood.

The Library has launched Good Day Memory Cafe. A memory cafe is a welcoming place for people at early stages of Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia AND their care partners. It's an opportunity to socialize and have an enjoyable afternoon with music, games or other fun activities in a safe and secure environment.

The Memory Cafe will meet on the first and third Friday of every month from 2-4 PM.

As the school year draws to a close and summer approaches, the Summer R.E.C.E.S.S. (Reading Everyday Can Ensure Student Success) Reading Program for grades K-4 is being offered.  During the free class, teachers will read and discuss the required reading book with the children and then work on a related craft.  Please sign up for the grade that your child is going into.  There is no need to read the book before the class.

This class is for the Kindergarten book “Will I Have a Friend”.

Registration is first come, first served as we only have space for 20 students in each class.

Baby Massage is a four week class that encourages bonding and attachment between baby and caregiver, while also increasing relaxation, alleviating gas and promoting restful sleep. Baby Massage with Parent - Session 1

Baby Massage is a four week class that encourages bonding and attachment between baby and caregiver, while also increasing relaxation, alleviating gas and promoting restful sleep. We ask parents to please bring a small pillow and blankets to each meeting. For newborns through pre-crawling babies only. Sorry, no siblings allowed as we need parent or caregiver to be working the baby.

An informal evening of good food and good conversation! Cynthia Carlson, a Shrewsbury resident, will coordinate this book group. A cookbook will be selected and participants will each make a recipe from that cookbook and bring it to the library to share with others in the group. Copies of the cookbook will be available for checkout at the library. The library will provide paper plates, cups, napkins and plastic utensils; cooks will bring serving utensils. Bring extra containers for leftovers!

Baxter is a 20lb mini-schnauzer mix and is a very chill pup. Baxter became a therapy dog through the Pets and People Foundation.  Baxter has his All-Star Puppy and Canine Good Citizen certification through the American Kennel Club (AKC). When he is with people his favorite thing to do is sit in their lap and cuddle.  Baxter is a great friend for reluctant readers or children who want to practice reading out loud to a judge free audience.

Over the years this seasoned group has built up a solid and ever expanding repertoire to go along with an engaging stage performance; They play a wide range of bluegrass styles... but what really sets them apart are their powerful three and four part harmonies. 

Pack your lawn chairs, picnic supper and join us at Dean Park for two entertaining nights! In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main Street in Shrewsbury.

Free and open to all ages.  Free ice cream will be provided, while supplies last.

The Library has launched Good Day Memory Cafe. A memory cafe is a welcoming place for people at early stages of Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia AND their care partners. It's an opportunity to socialize and have an enjoyable afternoon with music, games or other fun activities in a safe and secure environment.

The Memory Cafe will meet on the first and third Friday of every month from 2-4 PM.

Baby Massage with Parent - Session 2

Baby Massage is a four week class that encourages bonding and attachment between baby and caregiver, while also increasing relaxation, alleviating gas and promoting restful sleep. We ask parents to please bring a small pillow and blankets to each meeting. For newborns through pre-crawling babies only. Sorry, no siblings allowed as we need parent or caregiver to be working the baby.

Session 2 is being held on August 6, 13, 20 and 27. When you register for the August 6 class, you are registering for entire August session.
