Climate Change: A Fresh Approach to Moving Forward

Join us at the Kingston Free Library for an interactive workshop about climate change. The workshop will be led by Sharon Gold.

Sharon has been a resident of Wakefield for 30+ years. She Holds a Master's Degree in Environmental Studies from the City University of New York. Sharon works with residents and legislators at the local, state and national level to address climate change issues.

The workshops she delivers are designed to raise awareness about the impact these environmental changes are having on Rhode Island residents and allows each participant to reflect on their own understanding of climate change, its impacts on our environment, and how to become engaged in crafting solutions. The audience is encouraged to gain a better grasp of the science and to see how communities in Rhode Island are being affected.

Author Visit with Frank Heppner at Kingston
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Join us at the Kingston Free Library as Dr. Frank Heppner, author of Railroads of Rhode Island, gives a slide presentation based on his latest book, The Seventy Year Train Trip; 500,000 Miles by Rail. Dr. Heppner is an Emeritus Professor of Biological Sciences at URI, where he taught 25,000 freshmen in his introductory biology classes during his 41 year career.

Dr. Heppner has been riding trains since before he was born. His father was a doctor for the Southern Pacific Railroad in San Francisco. By the time he was 10, he’d accumulated about 10,000 miles aboard a train, and he subsequently rode trains in 28 countries, including Morocco and Malaysia. The Seventy Year Train Trip; 500,000 Miles by Rail is a lighthearted memoir that recounts his global adventures (and misadventures) aboard trains around the world.

Registration is preferred. To register, call 783-8254 or email bobertello@skpl.org.
