Join us at Peace Dale Library on Saturday, February 24, 2 PM, with author Sylvia Brown and her book Grappling with Legacy: Rhode Island's Brown Family and the American Philanthropic Impulse.

From the back cover: "What fuels a family's compulsion for philanthropy? Self-interest? A feeling of guilt? A sense of genuine altruism? Charitable giving is such an intrinsic part of American culture that its story deserves to be told, not in a dry, academic tome but through the tale of a colorful, multifaceted family:...the Browns of Rhode Island...Over three hundred years, the Browns also wrestled with society's toughest issues-slavery, immigration, child labor, the dispossessed-and with their own internal family tensions."

The event is free and open to the public and copies will be available for sale and autographing after the talk.

Registration is not required. For more information, contact Jessica Wilson, 401-789-1555 xt 110 or jwilson@skpl.org
