Art Central Presents Artworks by Donna Estabrooks

Donna’s art focuses on the human condition such as courage or hope, love, unity, and relationships. She is dedicated to world peace, and works to produce art that touches people’s lives. Technically, she works with acrylic and collage, but she feels her work is more about Buddhist spirituality involving such disciplines as listening and letting go. Her display this season includes original art of words with images. All ages.

Make It: Etched Wooden Spoons

This pop-up program gives those interested an opportunity to etch mixing spoons using a woodburning tool. Individuals should sign up for a designated time as there are a limited amount of spoons available. Individuals are welcome to bring in their own wooden cooking tools to decorate. Read to Cadence the Dog

Read to Cadence - Megan Marshall, a volunteer from Bright Spot Reading Buddies, will bring her dog Cadence to the library to have children read to her. She will be at the library the first Saturday of each month from 11:30am-12:20pm. Kids ages 4-10 must sign up for a 10 minute slot to read to her friendly, furry companion. Bring a favorite picture book or a chapter book to read to Cadence. This program is designed to help kids gain confidence and reduce anxiety about reading.

Chair Yoga is a unique yoga style that adapts yoga positions and poses through creative use of a chair. The chair replaces the yoga mat, and becomes an extension of the body. The student is able to warm up the body safely, and perform yoga poses with more support and stability. Poses are done seated on the chair, or the chair is used for support during standing poses such as bends, extensions, and stretches. Suitable for all ages, fitness levels, and physical conditions, this class is instructed by Certified Yoga Instructor Nicole Ferraro.

Problem Gambling Youth Project Presentation

A group of Springfield high school youth worked on a 16 week-long project learning about healthy and unhealthy risk-taking, problem gambling and the behaviors that contribute to the youth's interest in gambling. This project is a public display and presentation of a series of photos in an exhibit taken and captioned by the youth to tell a story to our community about the effects of gambling culture on youth and the risks associated.

All pajamas donated to the drive will be given to children and teens living in foster care, and local donations benefit local children.
