Candy Corn Count

During the month of October children and teens who read in the library for 20 minutes or check out a book will be able to guess the number of candy corn in a jar. (One guess per day.) The closest guess wins the candy corn!

Introduction to Sewing for Teens

Learn the basics of hand sewing and design through the creation of a small handbag, tote bag or pillow. A variety of fabrics and embellishments will be provided to create your customized project. A review and discussion of the evolution of sewing is included. For this beginner sewing program no prior sewing experience is expected or required. This is a recurring monthly program to be held on Wednesday, September 18, Tuesday October 8, and  Tuesday November 12.  The program is for ages 10- 18.

Author Talk: The Arts and Crafts Houses of Massachusetts

Heli Meltsner's new book, The Arts and Crafts Houses of Massachusetts, focuses on the state’s Arts and Crafts architecture. Her talk identifies qualities of this difficult-to-describe movement, and includes discussion of examples found in the Forest Park neighborhood in Springfield.

Heli Meltsner, a historic preservation expert, has served on the Cambridge Historical Society Council and was the Society's Curator. She has also written the book The Poorhouses of Massachusetts: A Cultural and Architectural History

Copies of her new book will be available for purchase following the program.  Adults and Teens 13+.

Introduction to Sewing for Teens

Learn the basics of hand sewing and design through the creation of a small handbag, tote bag or pillow. A variety of fabrics and embellishments will be provided to create your customized project. A review and discussion of the evolution of sewing is included. For this beginner sewing program no prior sewing experience is expected or required, although attending the first class is necessary to understanding subsequent classes. This is a recurring monthly program to be held on Tuesday December 17, January 21, 2010, February 11, 2010 and March 17th 2020.  All classes will be held from 4-6.   Please note registration is required either online or by calling 413-263-6858

Learn the basics of hand sewing and design through the creation of a small handbag, tote bag or pillow. A variety of fabrics and embellishments will be provided to create your customized project. A review and discussion of the evolution of sewing is included. For this beginner sewing program no prior sewing experience is expected or required, although attending the first class is necessary to understanding subsequent classes. This is a recurring monthly program to be held on Tuesday December 17, January 21, 2010, February 11, 2010 and March 17th 2020.  All classes will be held from 4-6.   Please note registration is required either online or by calling 413-263-6858
