Thanksgiving Coloring Contest

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

St. John the Baptist Parish Library System is a part of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. The objective of the organization is to promote reading to newborns, infants, and toddlers, and to encourage parent and child bonding through reading. Reading logs can be printed out from the 1,000 books website to write down the titles of the books read and they will also be available at the Central Library. Let's get students involved in reading quality literature by participating in the Louisiana Young Readers' Choice (LYRC) Book Award Program for grades 3-5 and 6-8 from November 1, 2020 through February 12, 2021. Students must read 3 or more books from the lists to submit their vote along with other students from across the state. The book with the most votes will be the winner of the award. Each student may vote individually from their participating school or computer. Teachers may submit the total votes instead of individual votes. Books can be checked out from any of our libraries or downloaded from our databases. Ballots can be picked up from any library and return to any branch.
