Parent & Tot (ages 24-36 mo.)

Parent & Tot is an introductory Early Literacy Class designed to increase children's comfort level with books and the written word.  Children listen to stories, sing active songs and finger plays, get up for active dances, and work on fine motor skills with an age-appropriate art project.  Class ends with the Clean-Up Train followed by the Rainbow Song.  Children attend class with a caregiver. Ages 24-36 months.
 
Registration Required. You are registering for the Fall Session which lasts through December.

Story Stretchers (ages 5-7 yrs.)

Story Stretchers is an advanced Early Literacy Class designed to increase independence at the Library and promote learning through books.  Children read together, play more advanced literacy games and make a crafty art project.  Children attend class on their own.Ages 5-7 years.
 
Registration Required. You are registering for the Spring Session which lasts through May.

Fill in the Blank Book Club: Books that Melt Your Heart (Grades 7+)

Join us for the Fill in the Blank Book Club! February's theme is "Books that Melt Your Heart." Bring in a book or two you've enjoyed that fit the theme to share with others in the book group. We'll discuss our book recommendations, then decorate our own melted snowmen cookies. Great Decisions—The Middle East: Regional Disorder

As the presidency of Donald J. Trump passes the halfway point, the Middle East remains a region in turmoil. The Trump administration has aligned itself with strongmen in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, which along with Israel have a common goal of frustrating Iranian expansion. What will be the fallout from policy reversals such as withdrawing from the Iranian nuclear accord and moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem? Does the United States see a path forward in troubled states such as Syria, Yemen, Libya and Iraq? Is the United States headed toward war with Iran?

Volunteen Training Session (Grade 6+)
3:15 PM - 4:15 PM

The Philip Michael Lauro II Discovery Room at Storrs Library needs teen volunteers!   Our primary need is help with re-shelving and organizing our book collection. You could also be asked to help with craft preparation or assist the librarians in other ways.   If you are entering grade 6 or higher please consider volunteering with us for one hour each week. We ask you to commit to at least 5 hours of service. Ask a friend to volunteer with you!
