Wild West: The Mystery of the Golden Piano

Grab your spurs and journey with the Sciencetellers to the Wild West, where a legendary bank-robbing outlaw is back in town, about to strike again! After the Sheriff mysteriously vanishes, two young kids must saddle up to foil the great heist — but not before stopping a runaway train, escaping an abandoned mine shaft and discovering how a mysterious piano can play an ‘instrumental’ part in putting a rotten cowboy back behind bars.

Thru Hiking the Appalachian Trail

Those who attend this program will be treated to a modern day adventure. Sam Ducharme set out on a 2180 mile, 14 state backpacking trip from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mt. Katahdin Maine. During his six-month journey he documented the rugged beauty of the Appalachian Mountains, the wildlife, the hardships encountered on the trail, as well as the people, culture and humanity at its finest. Come join him as he takes you through the trail towns, over the mountaintops and through the backcountry. The images and stories will leave you with a renewed awe of the beauty of our country and its people.

Rockets: There and Back Again A Museum of Science Traveling Program

3rd Floor Town Hall Meeting Room

In this workshop, the audience will create an air rocket that launches across the room, and engineer a way for a payload to return safely to Earth. This hands-on workshop explores the science behind rockets and space exploration. Use your imagination to plan, build, and test your own design. Latex Ballons will be used!

Funded by a Museum of Science Traveling Programs scholarship and a grant from the Osterman Family Foundation.

Kidding Around Yoga is a unique children's yoga organization with a line of original songs, games and stories that are used in their child geared yoga classes. These programs provide a sense of calm, balance, and power for every child that rolls out a mat. These programs will be held outside on the Common, but if it rains we will hold them inside.

Pop! Boom! Create cards with action!

Come along and join in the fun with professional paper artist Lisa Siciliano (www.sparkreations.com) who will lead participants in creating a whimsical pop-up card and another that “explodes” with your greeting when opened. All materials will be provided. Please bring along a ruler, scissors, and a pencil with eraser. If you have a bone folder, bring that along, as well. 

This program is for adults and teens ages 13 and up.
