World of Music: Global Language of Joy

The Friends of the Swansea Public Library invite you to a very special evening of music with The Gnomes on  Friday April 27, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the Swansea Community Center located at 260 Ocean Grove Ave, Swansea.  Join the Friends for an evening concert filled with a blend of music from around the world. The Gnomes members each bring an enormous wealth of musicianship, artistry and joy to the music they create. Their shows are community-minded, while their music transforms the audience into 'world-music-citizens'. It's what happens when an Irish tune morphs into a tango or a reggae song; or a Scandinavian tune meets a Cajun waltz or perhaps a song in Chinese! Then, you know you've been "gnomed"!

The Gnomes fuse their dynamic folk-rock edge with original tunes and a wide-ranging repertoire that spans the globe — Celtic, Scandinavian, Eastern European, Asian, African, Caribbean, Klezmer, and Native American — bringing you a sound that will touch both your heart and your feet! They combine their varied and extensive musical backgrounds into arrangements that have been described as "exotic, fresh, and unique."

The concert is free and light refreshments are included.
