This month we will be reading the book "Oil Spill!" by Melvin Berger.

We will talk about oil spills and how you might clean them up and then make our own model of an oil spill and test our theories.  We will also do a craft inspired by the book.

(You will need colored pencils for the craft)

Please Note: This book contains detailed information about the number of animals killed during the Exxon Valdez oil spill and may be upsetting for some children.

This program is suitable for children ages 4 to 8.

Museum of Bad Art [MOBA] - Let's Talk Art With Brooke

What is MOBA?

What makes art "bad"?

The pieces in the MOBA collection range from the work of talented artists gone awry to works of exuberant, although crude, by artists barely in control of the brush. What they all have in common is a special quality that sets them apart in one way or another from the merely incompetent.

Here's what The Smithsonian has to say about it: "Sometimes a work of art is characterized by a string of failures, but nonetheless ends up being a gorgeous freak accident of nature"

Join us as we read through the presidents of the United States!
The idea is to not only learn a few things, but to get a deeper understanding the role the presidency has played in this nation's history!
In the midst of a recent discussion, we came to the realization that our knowledge of much of American history was wanting. We decided to undertake a journey through the American presidency from beginning to end starting with George Washington, reading a biography of each president in the order they served. The hope is that this will acquaint us with not only each President, but also the history of the time in which they lived and died.

Museum of Bad Art
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

IN THE NOOD

Consistent with other major museums, the MOBA Collection contains works celebrating the human form. It is not obvious, however, thatall the artists have actually seen a naked person.

Registration is required. Zoom link will be emailed the day of the event.

Funded by the Townsend Library Endowment

The Call of Kilimanjaro: Finding Hope Above the Clouds by Jeff Belanger

Get ready to climb 19,341 feet to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro – one of the famed Seven Summits – the roof of Africa.
