It tells the stories of several “off the road” historic and mythological sites that he has visited in Ireland. These stories are examples of stories that could be interesting additions to any family history. This program uses animation, video and music and is designed to be entertaining as well as informative. The program handout includes a list of sources that researchers can use to enhance their knowledge of family stories. Tom Toohey is a modern day Irish storyteller who has traveled to Ireland 20 times and collected hundreds of stories. He comes to this tradition naturally as his parents were great storytellers. In the last few years Tom has recorded his family stories in a four volume book called Images of Other Lives. In 1991, Spooky World opened in Berlin, Massachusetts as the first Halloween scream park. The attraction became so popular that it expanded well beyond its original haunted hayride and shaped a generation of New England Halloween lovers. Join David Bertolino, the man who started it all, and Jeff DePaoli, Host of "That Halloween Podcast" to hear how an idea became a Halloween institution in Massachusetts. Spooky World first opened its doors in Berlin, Massachusetts back in 1991. The original horror scream park featured haunted houses, sideshow attractions, celebrities and a notorious haunted hayride. The park was soon after deemed New England's largest and most terrifying horror scream park, becoming a household name. Seven years later, Spooky World moved its location to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. In addition to Spooky World's terrifying and original hayride and haunted house creations, the scream park caught the eyes of Hollywood. Throughout the years, special guests to visit Spooky World included Cassandra Peterson as Elvira, Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), Kane Hodder (Jason Vorhees), and musician Tiny Tim even got married live on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" at Spooky World. About our Host: Jeff DePaoli grew up in Woburn, Massachusetts and graduated from Emerson College with a B.F.A. in the Performing Arts. Genealogical research may hold the answers to questions you have about your family medical history. Many health conditions tend to run in families. This reoccurrence is thought to be due to a combination of genetics, the environment, and personal lifestyle. A genogram is a detailed “family medical history pedigree” which can help track these diseases through multiple generations. This program will discuss how a genogram is constructed, highlight the types of genealogical records that may contain your ancestor’s vital health information, explore archaic (and sometimes funny) medical terminology from past centuries, and offer insights on how to approach living family members about their medical history. Dr. Sarah J. Price Rosen has a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biology and Chemistry from Denison University, a PhD in Molecular Genetics from Marshall University School of Medicine, and attended a two-year clinical fellowship in Clinical Molecular Genetics at Boston University School of Medicine. She has also earned certificates in Genealogical Studies and Investigative Genetic Genealogy. Her company, Cypher Genealogy, LLC, performs traditional historical genealogy as well as genetic genealogy to reconstruct family histories, find birth parents, or resolve probate disputes. Her areas of interest are migration patterns, Jewish genealogy, peerage, investigative genetic genealogy, and Afro-Caribbean research. This program will be recorded.
