Marketing the Presidency: Memories and Memorabilia
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

When most folks hear the word “marketing”, they think of it as a relatively modern term. However, in terms of presidential candidates, from George Washington to today, candidates have been marketing themselves and their ideas from the beginning.

Join the library for a special presentation that focuses on the odd artifacts which campaigns have produced to spotlight their candidate’s name in front of the electorate. Some of the items include a James Monroe snuff box promoting the Monroe Doctrine, a Teddy Roosevelt cast iron door stop, an Eisenhower bar of soap reading “Clean Up With Ike”, and a Richard Nixon shower head!

Take a stroll with us down Memorabilia Lane for an afternoon of political, whimsical, and historical fun!

The Game Room: A Table Top Experience
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Thanks to The Big Bang Theory, popular podcasts, and the rise of Nerd Power, gaming is now more popular than ever.  Join the library for a chance to trade your thousand-plus cable channels and the rabbit holes of YouTube for some real fun with real people –plus a rule book and a table top!

The Game Room meets twice a month for an evening of conversation, game play, and turn-taking.  We are completely free —no more having to purchase overpriced coffee for the right to use precious counter space!—and we welcome Euro Games, deck building games, RPGs, and whatever else happens to move your meeple.

In addition to our own collection, The Game Room is happily BYOB, or (Bring Your Own Board game.)
