Meditation Meetup

In our harried world, wouldn't it be nice to just slow down and...BE? In partnership with area practitioners, the York Public Library is launching a pilot program to help you do just that.  Wednesday evenings during the months of April and May, we are pleased to offer a drop-in guided meditation from 6-7PM in our Kennebunk Room on the lower level of the library.

  • APRIL's sessions will be led by Jerry Mayfield, a 20-year practitioner of Sahaja Yoga meditation. He regularly leads are classes for Adult Education programs and will soon resume teaching at Yoga by Donation in Portsmouth.
  • MAY's sessions will be facilitated by Maia Rizzi. A Clinical Hypnotherapist, she will lead visualizations to create healing energy, thereby calming and focusing the subconscious mind to connect with the body. She has practiced this work for over twenty years in the United States, the Caribbean, and Asia.

Depending on the level of interest during this pilot project, we hope to offer future sessions led by a rotation of area instructors.

All ages and abilities are welcome. No prior experience needed. Please dress comfortably. The library will have a very limited number of meditation cushions available on a first come, first serve basis. If you have your own cushion, please bring it with you.

As always, this program is free and open to all.
