Poland in Chicago; Chicago in Poland
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Outside of Warsaw, Chicago has the world's largest Polish population, but for the descendants of those immigrants, much of that culture has been lost, mingled with others, or it persists in the staunchest ways. Learn about the challenges of Polish immigration from the early 1800's to the present and discover the various centers of Polish and Polish-American culture and traditions. Join us for a multimedia presentation by former teacher and author Donna Urbikas, who emigrated to Chicago as a child and grew up in the Polish community of the 1950's and 60's, as highlighted in her recent memoir, My Sister's Mother: A Memoir of War, Exile, and Stalin's Siberia.
