Wild and Neat: Bridging the Gap Between Great Garden Design and Ecologoy
3:00 PM

Radnor Library presents an afternoon with Claudia West as our 19th Annual Chanticleer Lecture.

Our planet is rapidly losing its foundation of life—the very plants that sustain us and most other creatures on earth. We know planting more native plants in our gardens is an important part of the solution. However, many native plant gardens that focus on ecological benefits often suffer for aesthetic challenges and fail to inspire. Great planting design is an essential part of the solution. Join us as we dig deeper into inspiring design principles derived from wild plant communities that resonate deeply within us and trigger stunning emotional responses. We will analyze archetypal landscapes and translate their principles into smaller garden spaces to help you create the native plant oasis of your dreams that will blow you away with stunning beauty!

Claudia West is a leading voice in the emerging field of ecological planting design and is the co-author of the critically acclaimed book, Planting in a Post-Wild World

This lecture is free and open to the public, and will be held in the Radnorshire Room at Radnor Township Building, 301 Iven Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087.

Role-playing Club
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Great Adventure Awaits!

Join us each Monday from 6pm-8pm as we explore vast kingdoms and galaxies far, far away. We'll learn the basics of table-top gaming systems, compare with Live-Action systems (aka LARP) and experiment with new systems as they are released. Build your own hero (or villian!) and enrich their backstory. Solve complex puzzles, evade dangerous traps, and wage epic battles! What fate will befall you and your companions? Roll the dice and see.

Grades 6-12, register at desk or via phone or email. Walk-ins welcome too!

Curious, but not sure if you want to play? Come visit and watch a game, or play a stock character from our vault.

NASA@MYLIBRARY
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

In May of 2017, the Darby Free Library was honored to be selected from among hundreds of libraries in America to receive the prestigious NASA@MYLIBRARY Grant. Only 75 libraries across America were selected to win this award.

Seventy-five U.S. public libraries were selected to receive resources, training and support through NASA@ My Library, a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education initiative that will increase and enhance STEM learning opportunities for library patrons throughout the nation, including geographic areas and populations currently underserved in STEM education. Forty-nine states are represented.

We are off to an auspicious inception!

We meet the 2nd Tuesday each Month to watch and discuss a movie together!

THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI is a darkly comic drama from Academy Award winner Martin McDonagh (IN BRUGES). After months have passed without a culprit in her daughter's murder case, Mildred Hayes (Academy Award winner Frances McDormand) makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at William Willoughby (Academy Award nominee Woody Harrelson), the town's revered chief of police. When his second-in-command Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell), an immature mother's boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing's law enforcement is only exacerbated.
