The Friends is a nonprofit organization consisting of community members who volunteer time to assist the library in such areas as developing community awareness, fund raising and program support.  The Sandown Friends was formed in 1963. They meet the 4th Monday in January, March, May, July, September and then the first Monday in December.
All meetings are held at the Library and begin at 6:30 P.M. New Members are always welcome. If you would like more information please contact the library at 887-3428.

Research shows following a consistent schedule and pattern helps children's brains develop, so we hope you will make this a regular part of your week.  However, we understand that nap times and other things come up, so this is a drop-in program, so come when you can.

We are expanding our Zen Color twice a month to include other crafts, like knitting, quilting, scrapbooking, and any other craft you like to do.  We are also hoping to provide special craft programs, like Zentangle, mosaics, and painting.  For these special programs, we will ask you to register.  If it is an "Open Night" please feel free to bring your own thing to do, or we always have coloring sheets available for you.

TONIGHTS PROGRAM :  Felting: Join Liz, from Riverslea Farm in Epping NH, as she demonstrates taking sheep's wool and creating felt. Natural Hand dyed wool and felting needles will be available for purchase.  Registration requested.

PRACTICES THAT GROW THE BRAIN SERIES

Join us for one or all four sessions on building mindfulness into your daily life.  We will be learning the four practices (one each session) of mindfulness, gratitude, loving-kindness and compassion. These sessions will be led by Liz Korabek-Emerson, a certified mindfulness instructor, transformational workshop leader, and creative coach.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME SWAP DAY

Join our first Halloween Costume Swap. You  may drop off children or adult Halloween costumes on Wednesday Oct 10 or Thursday Oct 11 between 4 and 8 PM. For each costume brought to the library, participants will receive a "costume coin" that allows you to return on National Halloween Costume Swap Day (Oct 13) to choose  a "new" costume for yourself or your children. 

Donations of costumes without swapping are accepted and greatly appreciated.   Don't have one to swap but need a costume?  You may choose a costume and make a donation  to the library. 

Costumes must be  clean, in good to excellent  condition, with no rips, tears, or stains.

The "Food For Thought" Cookbook Book Club.  We will meet from 6:00 - 7:30pm. This unique book club includes reading/reviewing a wide range of cookbooks and explores various cooking techniques, specific chefs, and ethnic cooking styles.  Participants are asked to bring a dish to share from the month’s cookbook and their own table setting, and we all sit down for a potluck meal.

We will be planning our 2019 calendar and recipe choices at this gathering.

Registration is required. This group cannot accommodate drop-ins. Please choose your recipe you will be making before registering for this program.  You may be asked to change your recipe if we need a "balanced" meal, so register early!

Join us for a 30 minute song and stories time appropriate for children ages birth to 24 months..  Parents/Caregivers will have children sitting on their laps to do movements and listening to books.  If you have older children, they may bring a stuffed animal or doll to sit with us and follow along.

Research shows following a consistent schedule and pattern helps children's brains develop, so we hope you will make this a regular part of your week.  However, we understand that nap times and other things come up, so this is a drop-in program, so come when you can.

The Friends is a nonprofit organization consisting of community members who volunteer time to assist the library in such areas as developing community awareness, fund raising and program support.  The Sandown Friends was formed in 1963. They meet the 4th Monday in January, March, May, July, September and then the first Monday in December.

We are expanding our Zen Color twice a month to include other crafts, like knitting, quilting, scrapbooking, and any other craft you like to do.  We are also hoping to provide special craft programs, like Zentangle, mosaics, and painting.  For these special programs, we will ask you to register.  If it is an "Open Night" please feel free to bring your own thing to do, or we always have coloring sheets available for you.

Learn how to creat your own holiday card with easily found materials.

PRACTICES THAT GROW THE BRAIN SERIES

Essential oils can be used enhance many areas of your daily life. Often used  for immune support, relaxation and sleep, stress relief, emotional balance, skin care, respiratory health, green cleaning,muscle tension and pain, even cooking.

.In our ongoing monthly classes, you will learn about essential oil safety, how essential oils are produced, and common methods of use. You'll also learn to create a more natural, healthy lifestyle with Aromatherapy.
