Art Central: A Walk in Our Woods, Photgraphs by Nick Borges

See the New England forest through the eyes of art photographer Nick Borges. His contemplative imagery reflects the beauty, calm, and magical order of the woods while personalizing it through his sensitive lens. From miniature close-ups to bold sunrises, Nick’s works are a personal yet powerful reminder of how much natural beauty we can find when simply walking through the woods.

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

This is not a library-sponsored event.

Come and join us!  Newcomers are welcome to come early (6 pm) for an introduction to what Citizens' Climate Lobby is and what we do.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change. Our consistently respectful, non-partisan approach to climate education is designed to create a broad, sustainable foundation for climate action across all geographic regions and political inclinations. By building upon shared values rather than partisan divides, and empowering our supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities, we work towards the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions. In order to generate the political will necessary for passage of our Crbon Fee and Dividend proposal we train and support volunteers to build relationships with elected officials, the media and their local community.

Women's Coding Club
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Have you ever wanted to learn high-tech skills but thought you couldn't? In today's world, e-mail, web browsing, and spreadsheets are just the tip of the iceberg, and more complex skills are increasingly useful even outside of tech careers. If you've ever wanted to make your own website, build your own app, or secure your smartphone against unwanted prying, join us! Our coding club for women is for all women, ages 18 to 98, who want to learn and experiment in a low-pressure, highly collaborative environment.

We can't promise you'll be a "leet hacker", but if you ever wanted to give beyond-the-basic computer skills a try, bring your curiosity, enthusiasm, and ideas about what you want to learn, and we'll all teach each other! This is a club for those who enjoy self-directed learning.

Club meets monthly, light snacks provided, please pre-register.

Have you ever wanted to learn high-tech skills but thought you couldn't? Scratch the Surface--Disability Awareness Art Display

Disabilities can have visible signs--like mobility devices or dark glasses and a cane--or they can be what we call invisible disabilities, those that don't have outwardly visible signs--like Crohn's disease  or mental health conditions. Visible or invisible, disabilities affect how people perceive us; someone with a visible disability might feel people are afraid to approach them, just like a person with an invisible disability might have to argue that they really do need the help they're asking for! This week brings awareness to disability in all its forms. Do you have a condition that makes it harder to get by, and wish people understood it better? SCRATCH THE SURFACE! Use our scratch-art paper to let your colors shine through! Tell us about your condition(s) and experiences with disability. All ages
