Afterthoughts Book Discussion Group
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Meets the second Thursday of every month | Adults

We select a new book to discuss every month. Library copies of the book will be available at the branch.  This month we will be reading Unsheltered, by Barbara Kingsolver

Summary: How could two hardworking people do everything right in life, a woman asks, and end up destitute? Willa Knox and her husband followed all the rules as responsible parents and professionals, and have nothing to show for it but debts and an inherited brick house that is falling apart. The magazine where Willa worked has folded; the college where her husband had tenure has closed. Their dubious shelter is also the only option for a disabled father-in-law and an exasperating, free-spirited daughter. When the family's one success story, an Ivy-educated son, is uprooted by tragedy he seems likely to join them, with dark complications of his own. In another time, a troubled husband and public servant asks, How can a man tell the truth, and be reviled for it?

Come join us for a lively discussion and meet others who also enjoy reading. New members are always welcome.

Afterthoughts Book Discussion Group
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Meets the second Thursday of every month | Adults

We select a new book to discuss every month. Library copies of the book will be available at the branch.  This month we are reading You Think It, I'll Say It, by Curtis Sittenfeld

With moving insight and uncanny precision, Curtis Sittenfeld pinpoints the questionable decisions, missed connections, and sometimes extraordinary coincidences that make up a life. Indeed, she writes what we’re all thinking—if only we could express it with the wit of a master satirist, the storytelling gifts of an old-fashioned raconteur, and the vision of an American original.

Come join us for a lively discussion and meet others who also enjoy reading. New members are always welcome.

Adults Love YA: Book Club
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Ages 18 - 30

Are you a Millennial who loves Young Adult literature? Are you looking to connect with other YA lovers in your area? Tired of there being no book clubs for you? We'll be reading a YA book a month for Forest Park Library's summer book club. Come prepared the last Tuesday of June, July, and August to enjoy junk food, a book related take-home craft, and fan gossip about the most talked about YA Lit. At the end of the summer, we'll draw a raffle including prizes from Owl Crate and Out of Print Clothing. The more meetings you attend, the more entries you get!

And obviously feel free to spread the word to all of your #bookstagram followers! See you soon!

June 25 - Book Selection - "Pride" by Ibi Zoboi
July 30 - Book Selection - "Dread Nation" by Justina Ireland
August 27 -  Book Selection - "The Loneliest Girl in the Universe" by Lauren James
