Holiday Book and Bake Sale

The Mason Square Branch will host a used book sale and bake sale in the branch. Prices will remain consistent with past book sales: $5 for a bag full of books, $1 for hardcovers, and $0.50 for paperbacks and kids’ books. Baked goods will be bagged and priced individually. Branch staff will  serve hot cocoa for free on the 12th. Proceeds go to the Friends of the Library.

The program is for all ages.

Read to Cadence the Dog

Children

Read to Cadence - Megan Marshall, a volunteer, from Bright Spot Reading Buddies, will be offering her services by bringing, Cadence, her dog, to the library to have children read to her. She will be at the library the first Saturday of each month, starting in January 5, 2019 from 11:30am-12:20pm.

Kids ages 4-10, will be able to sign up for a 10 minute slot to read to her friendly, furry, companion. Kids are asked to bring a picture book to read or a couple pages from a chapter book. This program is designed to help kids gain confidence and reduce anxiety about reading.

Build a Snow Creature Competition

School is out! Come to the Mason Square Branch Library's Community Garden on this day off from school for a SNOW CREATURE BUILDING COMPETITION! Snow Creatures are like snowmen, but better. Make sure to wear your boots, jacket, hats, and gloves! This event is on Friday January 11 from 1:00-3:00 PM, and is for all ages. Come inside after and warm up at our weekly FriDIY Crafty Fridays table! Hot cider and donuts will be served and a few pairs of gloves to borrow will be provided compliments of the Friends of the Springfield City Library.

Since this is a light-hearted competition, winners (or winning teams) will get to pick three free books or DVDs from the library's Primus Used Book Store, and a $5 Dunkin Donuts Gift Card. There will be winners for four categories:

  2. Most Literary Snow Creature
  3. Most Creative Snow Creature

Come to the library with your stuffed animal friend for a sleepover. We will decorate a name tag and a blanket for them and then hear a bedtime story and have a bedtime snack.  After we put them to sleep SHHHHHH! We will turn out the lights and hopefully they won’t get into too much trouble over night. Don’t have a stuffed animal? Don’t worry! We have extras. Pick them up any time on Thursday. Read to Cadence the Dog

Read to Cadence - Megan Marshall, a volunteer, from Bright Spot Reading Buddies, will be offering her services by bringing, Cadence, her dog, to the library to have children read to her. She will be at the library the first Saturday of each month, starting in January 5, 2019 from 11:30am-12:20pm.

Kids ages 4-10, will be able to sign up for a 10 minute slot to read to her friendly, furry, companion. Kids are asked to bring a picture book to read or a couple pages from a chapter book. This program is designed to help kids gain confidence and reduce anxiety about reading.

Read to Cadence the Dog

Children

Read to Cadence - Megan Marshall, a volunteer, from Bright Spot Reading Buddies, will be offering her services by bringing, Cadence, her dog, to the library to have children read to her. She will be at the library the first Saturday of each month, starting in January 5, 2019 from 11:30am-12:20pm.

Kids ages 4-10, will be able to sign up for a 10 minute slot to read to her friendly, furry, companion. Kids are asked to bring a picture book to read or a couple pages from a chapter book. This program is designed to help kids gain confidence and reduce anxiety about reading.
