Take + Make Pipe Cleaner and Bead Snake

We've put together some take + make kits for you to pick up curbside at the library! Each week will feature a different theme, and contents may vary. These arts + crafts are for any age, and come with everything needed to create something cool - complete with materials and instructions. Registration is a must, as there are a limited number of kits each week. 

 

**This weeks's craft involves small beads that are not intended for anyone under the age of five. Supervision is recommended.

Teen Take + Make Recycled Bottle Planters

We've put together some take + make kits for you to pick up curbside at the library! The summer will feature four different crafts. These crafts can be enjoyed by school age kids and teens, but they are intended for rising sixth through twelfth graders. Each kit comes complete with materials and instructions. Register while supplies last and pick up your craft kit during curbside pickup. Teen Take & Makes are and are available for 2 weeks from the start date.

Join us for a LIVE virtual LEGO Club! Register for details and login information - registration is limited to children ages 5 - 10. Parents and caregivers, you MUST be in virtual attendance with your child. Virtual LEGO Club live will be approximately 30 minutes long. We will be following a slightly different format this summer - each LEGO Club that you register for will be challenge based - everyone in attendance will try to build the same thing. 

If you need LEGO pieces to build with, let us know! We have a limited number of basic LEGO brick kits to be handed out. You are free to use your own pieces.

Virtual Middle School Graphic Novel Chat

Join us Tuesday July 21st @3:00pm-3:45pm for Graphic Novel Chat, virtual book club for those going into grades 6-8. The Graphic Novel Chat will be hosted by a small group of young adult librarians from the South Shore. For July, we will be reading New Kid by Jerry Kraft. "Seventh grader Jordan Banks loves nothing more than drawing cartoons about his life. But instead of sending him to the art school of his dreams, his parents enroll him in a prestigious private school known for its academics, where Jordan is one of the few kids of color in his entire grade. As he makes the daily trip from his Washington Heights apartment to the upscale Riverdale Academy Day School, Jordan soon finds himself torn between two worlds—and not really fitting into either one. Can Jordan learn to navigate his new school culture while keeping his neighborhood friends and staying true to himself?"

The event will be held virtually. All registered participants will receive an email with the event link the day of. All cameras will be set to OFF for patron privacy. By turning on your camera, you and/or your adult consent to your face being on Zoom. We will not be recording the Zoom sessions. Registration is required -- reserve a spot directly using the blue button above. There is space for to five teens from each library to participate. Once registered, you will receive information on how to attend the event.

Virtual Escape Room - Summer Vacation

We're going on a summer vacation and you have to help plan it! Put your geography and organizational skills to work in the digital escape room. Marshfield teens we will be joined by Braintree, Quincy, and Pembroke teens to see which library can Breakout the quickest to help plan the best vacation for you and your classmates! Program sponsored by the Thomas Crane Memorial Library in Quincy.

Virtual High School Comic Talk

Join us Tuesday, July 28th @3:00pm-3:45pm for Comic Talk, virtual book club for those going into grades 9-12. Registration is required to attend.

Comic Talk will be hosted by a small group of young adult librarians from the South Shore. For June, we will be reading The Woods, Vol. 1: The Arrow by James Tynion IV. "On October 16, 2013, 437 students, 52 teachers, and 24 additional staff from Bay Point Preparatory High School in suburban Milwaukee, WI vanished without a trace. Countless light years away, far outside the bounds of the charted universe, 513 people find themselves in the middle of an ancient, primordial wilderness. Where are they? Why are they there? The answers will prove stranger than anyone could possibly imagine."

The event will be held online. All cameras will be set to OFF for patron privacy. By turning on your camera, you and/or your adult consent to your face being on screen. We will not be recording the the meeting. Registration is required. Once registered, you will receive information on how to attend the event.
