The tradition continues with the annual Voorheesville Family Bicycling Day! The Voorheesville Family Bicycling Day is a community-wide event that provides families with a safe and fun day of bicycling and family-friendly activities. We will have a true bicycle block party complete with music, food, fire trucks, a bounce house, craft time, bicycle skills class, a BMX demonstration, pony rides and farm animals to pet, guideded rides, and more! All activities will be on a closed bicycle riding loop (Grove Street and the Rail Trail). Supported through the efforts of the newly formed Voorheesville Running and Cycling Club. Come join the fun!

Join local rabbit breeder from Pitter Patter Rabbitry, Stacey Curley, and the youth from her United Hoppers 4-H Club to learn all about rabbits, rabbit breeds, how to care for them, and how to prepare them for a rabbit show. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe, pet and groom a rabbit and may even have the opportunity to walk a rabbit on a leash! Have you ever wondered how cheese is made? Have you ever wanted to make your own? Youth and their parents are invited to join Albany County 4-H via zoom to celebrate summer's bounty by making your own mozzarella. We will then use seasonal ingredients to turn that mozzarella into caprese salad. We will be featuring the book On the Farm, At the Market by G. Brian Karas as we explore seasonal ingredients, local foods and the people that make them possible. Kits containing some supplies, the recipes and the book will be provided to participating families. Kits with fresh ingredients may be picked up at the library on July 5 or 6. Funding for the program is provided, in part, by the New York State Agriculture in the Classroom Dairy Education Grant. For grades 2-8 with familes. Younger children will require an older sibling or an adult to assist during the cooking class. The Zoom link will be sent out to registrants. Butterfly wings are truly spectacular! With pre-cut stencils, you, too, will be able to create your own wings to make Frankenfly Art. Coloring sheets will be provided for the wings or you may use other flat media like preserved leaves, pressed flowers, feathers, or magazine clippings. Ryan will guide you in layering and collaging the materials behind the silhouette. When satisfied with the piece, you can cover it with backing and insert it into a magnetic picture frame. This art piece can be taken home while another similar piece will be created to add to a community art piece that will be displayed in the library. For ages 5 - adult with families. Join us for an evening of discussion and learning as we read and talk about My Own Lightning by Lauren Wolk, a beautiful coming-of-age story about friendship, family and forgiveness. To add to the reading adventure, the Museum of Innovation and Science will be conducting a "Magic of Electricty" program, where students will observe both static and dynamic electricity, learn the difference between the two, discover how electric circuits are formed, how electric charges work, and witness hair-raising demonstrations. The BIG TRUCKS will be rolling into Voorheesville for the "All Together Now" Summer Reading Program! Does your child love big rigs of all shapes and sizes? Do you, as a "big kid at heart," love big machines? Here's a chance to get up close and personal with the trucks, farm gear, construction equipment, police vehicles, fire engines, and other unique vehicles that work in our community. Beginning at 10:30, Gracie's will be serving up barbecue and the Emack & Bolio's Ice Cream truck will be scooping up flavorful treats for sale. As "admisssion" into the event, we request that you please bring at least one nonperishable food item or paper product such as toilet paper or paper towels per family. Meet, touch and learn about reptiles from the educators at the Via Aquarium. Live animals will be a part of the experience! As a follow-up to the reptile visitors, we will Smile with Lyle, which will include kindness and community activities inspired by the classic children's book, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile by Bernard Waber. Want to build upon the skills and rules you learned in our Intro to Pickleball class? Join us at the Nichols Park pickleball court for a refresher class led by Lauren Sirkin, certified recreation therapy specialist. This class is for adults and seniors who have taken the Intro class and would like a review of the rules with more time for game play. Pickleballs and paddles will be provided. Educators from the Tang Teaching Museum will conduct an art lesson focusing on the artist Paula Wilson, in conjunction with her upcoming exhibition Toward the Sky's Back Door. We'll be creating watercolor mosaics, in response to some of her pieces. These hands-on art projects provide opportunities for teaching, learning, and understanding issues raised by current and past exhibitions at the Tang, while offering children the opportunity to express their creativity in fun and inspiring ways.
