The Beatles At Shea Stadium: The Beginning of Stadium Rock

Join us on Monday, August 15 at 6:30pm for a journey into rock music history with special guest Dave Schwensen, author of "The Beatles at Shea Stadium" and "The Beatles in Cleveland." The highpoint of the Beatles touring years, author Dave Schwensen takes you behind the scenes and on stage for the group’s legendary 1965 performance at New York’s Shea Stadium. The first modern outdoor stadium rock concert, a capacity crowd of 55,600 watched John, Paul, George and Ringo perform on a hot August night in the media capital of the world. Celebrate the anniversary of this pivotal moment in rock 'n' roll history with us on its 57th anniversary!

Learn about the making and restoring of the television special, view concert films, and hear rare live recordings and details about a “secret” Beatles recording session. A display of Beatles memorabilia will be available for viewing 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after the program.

Copies of "The Beatles at Shea Stadium" and "The Beatles in Cleveland" will be available for purchase at a special library discount and signing after the program.
