Author Brian Glyn Williams

For four years Professor Brian Glyn Williams roamed the mountains of Afghanistan tracing a covert
operation that saw U.S. Green Beret Special Forces unite with ancient Mongol Uzbek horse warriors
to fight the Taliban foe. The result of his embed with a larger than life Mongol Uzbek warlord who called
American elite warriors his friends was his book, The Last Warlord: The Life and Legend of Dostum, the
Afghan Warrior who Led US Special Forces to Topple the Taliban Regime.

Dr. Williams will bring his book and the real story behind events covered in it and the film 12 Strong to life
with extraordinary photos of the covert 2001 US-Uzbek horse campaign taken by the CIA, Dostum and
Green Berets. It was this that saw a brotherhood forged in battle of men from different worlds topple the
Taliban regime.  Dr. Williams, who has also worked in Afghanistan for the CIA’s Counter Terrorism Center
and US Army’s Information Ops, will recreate this epic tale using actual images of the men depicted in the movie.
