Author Talk with David Goodrich

Join author David Goodrich as he takes you on “A Voyage Across an Ancient Ocean:
A Bicycle Journey through the Northern Dominion of Oil.

As a climate scientist and former sailor, David embarked on a different kind of voyage in the summer of 2018, looking to go to places where climate change comes from, that is, where carbon is coming from the ground. He began in the tar sands of Alberta – source region for the recently cancelled Keystone XL Pipeline -- and rode 1100 miles solo through the boreal forest and prairie to the Bakken oil field of North Dakota. The ancient ocean of the title is the Western Interior Seaway, the inland sea that laid down both oil deposits. The ride ended at Theodore Roosevelt National Park, where our original conservationist president spent his days as a cowboy. Roosevelt might well have had some thoughts about the issue of climate change.

A volume with the above title was published by Pegasus Books and is available in the Library’s catalog https://bit.ly/3prJolq; for $25.71 at Bookshop.org https://bit.ly/2MCvmP2 or other online outlets. An audiobook is available for $24.99 from Libro.fm at https://bit.ly/3cl7B9i.
