ArtMatters: IMPRESSIONISM

Join us as ARTMATTERS introduces Impressionism with an informative and entertaining presentation featuring fine art reproductions. This lively program will take a close look at many of the paintings that moved the world into the modern era.

IMPRESSIONISM:

The Impressionists were painters of light, painters of nature, and painters of human nature. Artists like Monet, Renoir, Cézanne and Degas defied convention and changed the way the world looked at art. Critics panned the Impressionist style with harsh reviews for the artists’ departure from the traditional academic style of painting. Nevertheless, the ripples of this revolutionary style of painting spread and influenced a whole new generation of artists.
