Something to Sing About

Featuring Had I Known (about CMV)

Debra Lynn Alt is a singer/songwriter who contributes songs and stories to help and inspire others, and she reminds us that no matter what, there’s always something to sing about. In addition to her fun song about moving to Connecticut from the perspective of a New Yorker, she has written songs for autism, M.A.D.D., Habitat for Humanity, adoption, child abuse, post-9/11 and cancer survivors.

Debra’s newest song will be performed and discussed with author Lisa Saunders who will talk about her new book, Help Childcare Providers Fight CMV, and how the song conveys her feelings when she learned her daughter’s disabilities might have been prevented had she known about CMV (cytomegalovirus). Congenital CMV is the leading viral cause of birth defects, more prevalent than Zika and fetal alcohol syndrome, and those who care for toddlers are at increased risk.

Refreshments will be served.

This program is free and open to the public; no registration is required.
