January 20, 2004 People need to know about library events to attend library events. Now with two new features of EventKeeper, you can increase awareness ..... unconventionally. Events entered into your EventKeeper calendar can now be posted on a scrolling kiosk or displayed as an “event feed” on the library’s web site.

EventKeeper calendars are in use by libraries across the nation to enhance their web sites with attractive, customizable, and dynamic Calendars of Events. Through simple on-line forms, EventKeeper clients are keeping their event listings up-to-date without downloading software or bothering the webmaster.

Display Your Events in Kiosk Mode

Now those same event listings can be available in the lobby of your library. The kiosk mode is highly configurable; the library can manage both the content and presentation of the display. Specify headers and footers, choose a keyword for the display (e.g. “Children’s Events” only), and select the number of days to include in the event listing. The scrolling can be configured to ensure the event presentation runs at the appropriate speed and refresh rate. Access the kiosk event listing from any web-enabled PC, or dedicate a full-size kiosk in your library’s lobby to promote your events and guide patrons to the appropriate room. Multiple kiosk views can be managed from one EventKeeper calendar at no additional cost.

Enhance Your Home Page with Current Events

The calendar of events is just one click away from your library’s home page, but wouldn’t it be nice to highlight today’s events or the week’s upcoming events on the home page? With EventKeeper’s “event feed” feature, it’s easy to configure a section of your home page to automatically display an abbreviated listing of events. Each listed event is a link to the full event description. Specify the number of days and the maximum number of events that you want to retrieve from your EventKeeper Calendar and there’s no need to ever update your home page again to show your library’s latest events!

Standard Features Provided with EventKeeper

The basic EventKeeper package is still just $195 for one year. The standard subscription fee includes Kiosk mode, event feed and many other features such as event conflict checking, “Tell-A-Friend” e-mails, administrative event review, configurable event display modes, and EventKeeper “notes” as popup information boxes or a separate page of dynamic information. Also included in the subscription fee are setup, support, and hosting of the EventKeeper data on Plymouth Rocket’s servers. Private events, private and Spanish calendars, and public submission of events are available as EventKeeper add-on features.
