A.M. Book Group
Wednesday October 24, 2018
10:00 AM until 12:00 PM
The AM Book Group meets the fourth Wednesday of the month (except December)
North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell (1855, 480 pages). Through the story of Margaret Hale, a southerner who moves to the northern industrial town of Milton, Gaskell skillfully explores issues of
class and gender in nineteenth century English society, as Margaret's sympathy for the town mill workers conflicts with her growing attraction to the mill owner, John Thornton.
