That’s a “Good wun” stories from around the Campfire by Storyteller Todd Goodwin
6:00 PM - 6:45 PM

Todd Goodwin is a campfire story teller who tells seasonal stories year round with a “campfire”, real or imagined, as a gathering place. Around the campfire there are no costumes or sets, just the face and voice of the teller who uses the imagination of the listeners to travel to different places in time and space. Mr. Goodwin creates many of the stories he tells from his camping background and growing up as a New England Yankee. He adds to his repertoire from literature and his experience as a teacher of drama and history and the blessings and challenges of everyday life. He sings and plays the harmonica to create a complete “campfire” experience that can be enjoyed anywhere people gather, indoor or out.

The Beatles: A Cultural and Historical Reflection of the 1960s Through the Music of The Beatles
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Join us for a multi-media presentation that highlights the influence The Beatles had on world culture, particularly during the 1960s. Come and listen to the music and learn some history before the 4EverFab Beatles Tribute Band plays for the Concert on the Common later that evening!

While their music established a new standard, their influence in other cultural areas was equally undeniable. They influenced hairstyles. They set new trends in fashion. They spoke out against things they saw as wrong. They were irreverent. They evolved greatly, despite being in the spotlight as a group for fewer than ten years.

This presentation features live acoustic music and audience sing-alongs, coupled with rare audio and video clips.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fitchburg Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Fascinating Rhythms
6:30 PM - 7:45 PM

Arts educator and performer, Cornell Coley will present “Fascinating Rhythms” an interactive solo concert of Afro-Latin rhythms, songs and movement.

He plays a wide variety of percussion instruments, accompanying with his voice and original, looped rhythm tracks. Moving easily back and forth between “feeling the groove” and playing time-tested traditional rhythms, Mr. Coley’s drum programs stand out as accessible, challenging, culturally rich, grounded, spiritually upbeat, funky and social.

He is trained in dance, drumming and cultural anthropology by leaders in drum circle facilitation and masters from Ghana, Nigeria, the Congo, Brazil, Cuba, Peru, USA, Israel and Bali. He has taught and performed extensively and internationally, winning several awards.

This program is for all ages, and if you have your own hand drums or percussion, you are encouraged to bring them.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fitchburg Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Home of the World's Worst Weather (Virtual)
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

This exciting Zoom program is appropriate for adults, teens, and children ages 6 and up.

Bitter cold, dense fog, heavy snow, and record winds: Mount Washington is known worldwide for its unpredictable and dangerous weather. For a mountain its size, why is Mt. Washington called the “Home of the World’s Worst Weather”? While many places on Earth experience severe weather, few are inhabited by humans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Mount Washington Observatory has been operating a continuously-staffed scientific outpost on this remote peak since 1932, providing the Observatory many remarkable stories and an intimate knowledge of the mountain.

Join Mount Washington Observatory's Brian Fitzgerald on Zoom for an investigation into the unique life and work of weather observers stationed at the observatory year-round. We will explore how the mountain's weather works and what it can tell us about New England’s own weather patterns. This program will include interactive demonstrations, weather instruments, stunning photography, and video footage from the summit.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fitchburg Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
