With the increased incidents of mass casualties in our nation, there is a national initiative called Stop the Bleed that is saving lives in the unfortunate event that this happens in our own neighborhoods, churches, schools, malls and theaters. This initiative was put into place after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 20 children bled to death from wounds that could have been treated. Stop the Bleed continues to empower the general public to make a difference in a life-threatening emergency by teaching them the basic techniques of bleeding control. At the conclusion of the class, participants will know what to do in the event of life-threatening bleeding. The only thing more tragic than a death, is a death that could have been prevented.
