Miniatures: A Pop Culture Phenomenon - Virtual Program

Presented by Miniaturist Darren T. Scala

Darren will take viewers through a brief history of miniatures from ancient times to today, exploring their earliest beginnings as well as their recent explosion in popularity. This talk will address the growing interest in all kinds of tiny things as well as include a view into many different things miniatures can be made from and into. Be prepared to discover just how present miniatures are in our lives in an exciting and delighting talk!

Darren is unapologetic about his passion for the tiny for as long as he can remember. He was captivated at an early age by watching Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood on television and fascinated by all of the tiny objects featured. A graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Darren had a longstanding career with Revlon, then founded D. Thomas Fine Miniatures, where he began showcasing quality scale works and miniatures in shows and ongoing exhibitions.
