On September 6, 1901, the 25th President of the United States, William McKinley, was shot on the grounds of the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, NY. McKinley's health would lead the country and Vice President Theodore Roosevelt down a turbulent path for the next 8 days resulting in Roosevelt's inauguration on September 14th.
