.Come enjoy a night out on the town with us by talking books and making new connections with readers from around town. Our Read Around Town Book Club meets monthly at various locations nearby and within Longmeadow. This month we'll be meeting at Li's Brothers in Longmeadow to discuss the Pulitzer Prize winner Beloved by the late Toni Morrison.
From the publisher: Sethe, its protagonist, was born a slave and escaped to Ohio, but eighteen years later she is still not free. She has too many memories of Sweet Home, the beautiful farm where so many hideous things happened. And Sethe's new home is haunted by the ghost of her baby, who died nameless and whose tombstone is engraved with a single word: Beloved. Filled with bitter poetry and suspense as taut as a rope, Beloved is a towering achievement.
Copies of this month's book are available for pick up at Storrs Library.
Please note that we ask interested participants to register so that way our host location will have enough chairs available to accommodate our lively group. New members are always welcome!
