.Any child ages birth to five years can participate.
Traditionally children are enrolled in the program by an adult that lives in the same household, or that spends part of their day with them.
The Woodbury Public Library is encouraging grandparents to participate in the program. Reading to your grandchild, in person or via video chat, is a
rewarding way to nurture an intergenerational relationship.
Participants are given a log to track the books they read. For every 100 books read, a sticker and book is awarded. Once 1,000 books are read, in addition to the sticker and book, the child is given a gift certificate to shop at the Book Cellar.
If you need guidance on how to have a video chat with your grandchild, Reference and Technology Librarian Ron Fairchild is available, by appointment, to guide you through the process. To schedule an appointment or for more information about 1,000 Book Before Kindergarten, please call the library at 203-263-3502.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is generously supported by The Friends of the Woodbury Public Library.
