Special Needs Arts Programs will hold an Early Childhood Music Class for kids aged 6-8 who are neuro-divergent at the Lexington Community Center. 

This program will teach kids about music, singing, rhythm and making friends. 

The class runs for eight weeks, from March 8th through May 10th, 4-5pm.  The cost is $160.

• LOS will offer some community spaces for artists who would like to participate either at Munroe Center for the Arts or LexArt (Lexington Arts and Crafts Society) 
• Artists who have Studios at Munroe may choose to show inside their studios.

•  Artists may choose to have their Open Studio at their home, studio or   outdoors at their home and may invite other artists to join them.

LOS is a wonderful opportunity to share and sell your artwork!

All artists are welcome: painters, photographers, sculptors, jewelers, woodworkers, fiber artists, printmakers, ceramic artists and more!

In collaboration with LexSeeHer, whose mission is to make women visible, Putting Black Women on the Map pays tribute to the contributions made by Black women across 300+ years of Lexington history.  The exhibition will examine the legacies of Margaret Tulip, a freed slave, re-enslaved, who went to court to win back her freedom, Phebe Banister Burdoo, a free woman of color whose sons both fought in the battle of Lexington, Mary Elizabeth Miles Bibb, the first African American woman to graduate from the Lexington Normal School, an abolitionist, educator and journalist.

The Arboretum Sensory Garden with Scott Stanley and the Sensory Garden at the Lexington Community Center with Rita Pandey and Barbara Tarrh

Scott Stanley has a BS in Horticulture Science from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He has over 35 years of horticulture and landscape experience which includes over 25 years of public sector work at Como Park Conservatory and the University of Minnesota. His talk will give us a brief history and background of the Arboretum, Sensory Garden installment date, design intent for the garden, partners that utilize the space, and how this differs from other sensory gardens.

Rita Pandey and Barbara Tarrh, both LFGC members, are the Co-Chairs for the Sensory Garden at the Lexington Community Center. Rita will give an overview of the garden from the initial concept to the finished garden. We will learn about the plantings and why a sensory garden is important.

The Master Singers of Lexington present a concert of choral lieder. It will feature selections by Brahms, Schubert, and Fanny (Mendelssohn) Hensel. The conductor is Adam Grossman and the accompanist is Eric Mazonson.
