Practice some of the basics in the first class. Students should bring an H, I or J hook and some worsted weight yarn - size 4 in a light color (one skein). The instructor, April Diane, will guide you with choosing yarn weights and colors so that you can create a Parquet blanket during subsequent classes.

We are selecting a variety of books and wrapping them in paper so you won't know your "date's" identity until you get home.

Checkit out as you normally would, then unwrap it to discover your date. Will it be Adventure, Romance, Mystery, etc...? 

Take a chance - you may end updiscovering a great read!

Each book comes with a "rate your date" slip. Write a brief comment about your "date"; with each slip you return at the Reference Desks, you will be entered in our raffle for a prize!

Join us for a unique workshop as we explore the life and art of Willem de Kooning, one of the famous artists of the abstract expressionist movement. 

Using Willem de Kooning's techniques and artwork as a starting point, teens will investigate the world of abstract art as they explore the human figure. 

Participants will create individual pieces that will be exhibited at Long Island Children's Museum. 

Ths workshop is open to middle and high school-aged children.
