April 12: The Art of Letters
Across the world, letters bend and twist to tell stories. This program is an introduction to the art of Arabic calligraphy. Participants will learn the basics of Arabic script and the art it inspires by exploring and mimicking the work of artists like Nassar Mansour and Wajih Nahlé.
May 10: The Modern Polka Dot
The polka dot can be simple, or it can be larger than life. This program centers on the work of artists who have mastered the art of the dot. Participants will explore works of art from famed Japanese artists Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami and attempt to imitate their work.
1 hour. For ages 8-13 years. Registration is required and limited. Register once to attend both programs.

Paws 2 Read-- Kline Library

|

Paws 2 Read encourages children of all reading levels to read to the easiest and most willing audience – a dog. Each attendee will read to a registered therapy dog for about 15 minutes. Registration for this program is by appointment. Reading sessions will be held outside as weather permits.
Our furry, reading friends will be joining us more frequently!! Participating library locations will host the Paws pups every other week April through May and then again September through November. Each week will offer multiple chances to read to one of our volunteer dog teams!
1 hour. 15-minute appointments. For ages 6-11 years. Registration is required and limited.

Join us for an hour of Spanish conversation, facilitated by Dr. Hector Ortiz. Each month, we’ll begin our session with a short grammar lesson before branching out into discussion. Whether you speak Spanish fluently or you are just beginning to learn the language, we welcome you to come together in community and conversation.

Internet Fundamentals provides attendees with a basic understanding of what the internet is, how it works, and how to use it to conduct effective searches. We’ll introduce common internet vocabulary terms, explore techniques for using search engines, and introduce the various features of Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers. You will gain experience using search engines and investigating the common features found on web pages.

What is your mind full of? Join us to learn more about the true meaning of mindfulness and the benefits of yoga and breathing for your mental health. We will have resources and information on mindfulness and teachers from the CommUNITY Yoga Space in Harrisburg will join us for a yoga class. Come wearing loose or stretchy clothes that you can move in. Bring your own mat or borrow one of ours.
