Join The Library and other teens from the community on Discord, a safe communication app, on Tuesdays after school as we game together, and Thursdays after school to chat and hangout. Who knows, maybe you’ll join one of our other Discord-based programs along the way!

Voices of F.E.W.: The Life and Legacy of Frances Ellen Watkins Harper

Join us for a very special presentation focusing on the life and work of Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, famed abolitionist, literary figure, and champion for civil and women’s rights. Sharia Benn will perform an excerpt from her acclaimed original production “Voices of F.E.W.” as Harper, before returning as herself to provide us with valuable insight about this incredible woman’s life and activism. Dr. Jean Corey will delve into the historical context of Harper’s writing and help us to answer the question, “Why have I not heard more about this amazing woman?”
Sharia Benn is the Founder, President and Executive Artistic Director of the Sankofa African American Theatre Company in Harrisburg.
Dr. Jean Corey is a Professor of English and Director of the Center for Public Humanities at The Messiah University.
