Ed Kanze's Curiously Adirondack is a web-based video series produced by Josh Clement and Ed Kanze and broadcast on Mountain Lake PBS. Josh and Ed will visit the Keene Valley Library, talk about the series and its upcoming fourth season, and screen several favorite videos, each featuring a human interest story or a hike and about five to ten minutes long.

Thursday Noon Book Club, AKA the Laundry Group.

We meet when we find a book that tickles our inner senses. We have read Untethered Soul, Tao of Forgiveness and After the Ecstasy the Laundry. The discussion lasts one hour and explores each chapter in depth, reflecting on our responses to the ideas present. This session we will read The Sage's Tao Te Ching by William Martin. The book can be purchased from Amazon in Kindle or Hard Copy format.

July 9, 7 PM:  Sinfonietta Pro Musica  7 PM presentation followed by a concert at 8PM.

Navah Perlman discusses musicians and pieces to be played at the concert that follows.  East Branch Friends of the Arts host the concert at the church at 8 PM.  This is a delightful opportunity to be acquainted with the story behind the music.

Frank Gill, ADK: A Laboratory for Change
Frank Gill is a retired ornithologist and author of the textbook Ornithology.

The birds of the Adirondacks and their habitats have changed dramatically in the past 200 years and continue to do so.  Colonizing species challenge established species and as does climate change. However, the mosaic of habitat “islands” of the Adirondacks may mimic oceanic archipelagos, where new species evolve over short time spans.

Fran Yardley, Bartlett Carry Club

In 1968 Fran and Jay Yardley, a young couple with pioneering spirit, moved to a remote corner of the Adirondacks to revive the long-abandoned but historic Bartlett Carry Club, with its one thousand acres and thirty-seven buildings. Fran chronicles their journey and unearths the history of those who came before, from the 1800s to the present.

Louis Bickford, Confronting the Past: How Societies Deal with Past Atrocity

Building off the idea of Holocaust remembrance and efforts to confront the past in South Africa, Chile, and other countries, Louis will look at different ways of remembering the past in societies as diverse as Argentina, Bosnia, Canada, Morocco, Peru, and the United States.
