Join Tim from Buildwave in the Story Hour Room for a high energy creative building event that encourages play and collaboration! Participants, in a series of "waves", will be given kits filled with building materials, and the object of the "game" is to build something with the materials. These kits will include Lego®,  PlusPlus®, some with materials we design in-house for Buildwave, and much more.

We will be starting a new book on Monday, October 23, and to get you ready to participate we are giving out a kit of hands-on craft items that you can use while you're listening to the book. Kits are available to the first 30 kids who sign up - and we hope that you'll also sign up for our meetings, which happen every Monday from 7:15-7:45 pm. Pick up your kit anytime during the Library's open hours between Oct. 16-22 so you're all ready for our new book to begin!

Join an instructor from Pop-Up Art School for an in-person art class!  Learn about the animator Lottie Reiniger, a pioneer of silhouette animation and create your own shadow box theater. Using a story you already know, or one from your imagination, you'll make silhouettes of characters and props. The theater will be lit from behind by the light on a smartphone or flashlight.

The Poop Museum is the place to come if you’re curious and have questions about poop, and also, if like Susie Maguire, you LOVE poop! Susie works at The Poop Museum and is a poop expert who thinks poop is THE most interesting subject in the world. She has studied poop for years and loves nothing more than sharing her expansive knowledge of poop with the children of the world.

At The Poop Museum, children learn many fantastic, fabulous and fun facts about human, animal and insect poop, many of which truly amaze and surprise. Just a few of the poopers the children will meet, include:
- the world’s messiest pooper
- the animal that has poop attack power
- the animal that can poop every color of the rainbow
- and many, many more

At The Poop Museum, children learn A LOT, but they also laugh a lot ... because ... well ... our subject is poop and Susie has found a wonderful way to blend solid science, with the silliness that kids love.

Please join us on Saturday, December 3 between 10am and 4pm for a sweet adventure: the MPL’s annual Life-Size version of the classic board game Candyland! Kids, see if you can beat your parents to the Candy Castle to rescue King Kandy, while at the same time practicing counting and color recognition. For all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult in order to play. Registration is required and timed entry is available (play should take approximately a half-hour). Registration will open two weeks in advance of the program.

Miss Sara will read a few chapters of a book each week; your job is to listen, do a hands-on activity of your choice at home (we recommend Play-Doh or drawing), and have fun!  Registration is required and limited to 25 computers. Registrants will receive Zoom connection info on the day of the program.

Calling all Graphic Novel fans! Join Ms. Tory each month for this new book club where we will discuss graphic novels and comics.

Request a copy through the OCLN catalog, or pick up a reserved copy in the MPL Children's Room to read before the meeting date. This program is geared for Grades 3-5. Registration for this in-person session is required and limited, and will open three weeks prior to the event.
