Autism Has No Look: Putting A Spotlight On The Spectrum

Dr. Kerry Magro, award-winning autistic professional speaker, best-selling author & autism consultant

“You don’t look like you have autism” is something Kerry has heard for the past two decades. As a child Kerry was nonverbal and today as an autistic adult is a professional speaker who has what some would say an ‘invisible disability.’ In this presentation, you will hear a first-person account of what helped him, from early intervention to his road to adulthood. Case studies will be shared to highlight the uniqueness of each individual who has autism. Time will be left at the end for Q&A.

Hosted in partnership with the South Brunswick Human Relations Commission

April is World Autism Month, dedicated to increasing awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder

SPEAKER BIO:  Dr. Kerry Magro is an award-winning autistic professional speaker, best-selling author and autism consultant to the HBO series Mrs. Fletcher that aired last in Fall 2019. He started professional speaking 10 years ago via the National Speakers Association and has spoken at over 1000 events during that time include 2 TEDxTalks and a 'Talks at Google' presentation. In addition, Kerry is CEO & President of KFM Making A Difference, a nonprofit organization that hosts inclusion events and has provided 86 scholarships for students with autism for college and counting since 2011. In his spare time, he hosts a Facebook Page called Kerry's Autism Journey that now has 205,000 Facebook followers where he does on-camera interviews highlighting people impacted by a diagnosis to breaking down barriers in our community. Once you're confirmed, you can come pick up your assigned kit from our Teen Craft Crate in the library lobby. Everyone is encouraged to do the craft/project together live on zoom with the provided materials (anything needed but not supplied will be clearly noted in the make and take supply bag).
