Early eighteenth century England is at war with the French. A frail Queen Anne occupies the throne, and her friend Lady Sarah tends to her ill health. When new servant Abigail arrives, Sarah takes her under her wing, and Abigail sees a chance at a return to her aristocratic roots. As the politics of war become time-consuming for Sarah, Abigail steps in to fill in as the Queen's companion. Their growing friendship gives her a chance to fulfill her ambitions, and no one will stand in her way.

Please eat a meal prior to donating blood and please bring ID with signature or photo and birthdate.  You can donate if you are between 17 and 75 years old and in general good health.  16 year olds can donate with parental consent form and those 76 and over can donate with doctor’s note.  Bring your donor card if you have one.

Most medications will not keep you from donating.  People with diabetes and blood pressure controlled by medication can donate.

The group is open to anyone (14 years and older) who knows how to knit or crochet; knitting and crocheting instruction is not provided. No registration is necessary. Every Tuesday morning from 10:00 to noon you can come to color and draw OR you can bring your own craft project - knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing or other hand crafts.

Image result for decoupage napkins on glass vaseToday we will create two projects using a slightly different decoupage technique and paper napkins.  We will make a glass vase and a terra cotta pot adorned with paper napkin designs.

The Adult Crafternoon program meets on the first Wednesday afternoon every month from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in Program Room 1A/1B, unless otherwise noted in this calendar.  Registration (below) is required.  The class is limited to 8 adults.  Unreserved and no-show seats will be filled on a first come first serve basis.  The doors will be closed at 1:40 p.m. and no one else will be admitted once the class begins.

Please plan to arrive 5 minutes early so that the class can begin on time.    Children will not be allowed in the classroom.

A six-class session of Tai Chi is ongoing in the library on Wednesday evenings on April 3, 10, 17, 24, May 1 and 15, 2019.  There will be no class on May 8.  

The classes are held in the Ellen Gambatese Room (the Octagonal Program room in the Children's Department) from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

The next session starts on May 22, 2019.

The current five-week session of Mixed-Level Yoga and Meditation will be held on April 4, 11, 18, 25, and May 2, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. 

The class includes a one-hour period of Yoga instruction, with variations in difficultly suitable for new to experienced practioners, and with a half-hour of meditation to follow.  There is another, separate Beginner/Intermediate Yoga class taught by another teacher following this class at 7:30 p.m.  The classes are not interchangeable; you must attend the same session for which you registered for the entire five weeks.

Sports medicine doctors are seeing an increase in injuries to the throwing arm in youngsters, and many of these require surgery. Most worrisome is that the risk for developing a throwing injury was shown to increase by 36 times in adolescent pitchers who continued playing with a fatigued arm.

Penn Medicine Princeton Health will present a workshop on throwing injuries and how to prevent them.

A new four-week session of Mixed-Level Yoga and Meditation will be held on May 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. 

The cost of this four-class session is $48.00 payable at the time of registration.

Inspired by the book Salt Fat Acid Heat by Samin Nosrat

A new four-week session of Beginner/Intermediate Yoga will be held on May 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.

Image result for card makingToday is the last of the three Paper Crafting/Card Making Workshops offered by Alicia Vicelette of "Inked Edge Paper Art."  

The instructor, who teaches classes in most of the libraries in the Mercer County Library system and the Cranbury Library as well as Mercer County Community College, Princeton Adult School, South Brunswick Adult Ed and many area senior centers says: "I have been addicted to card making for 23 years and have a passion for teaching others to create cards using a variety of mediums.  I have taught all levels of card making from beginner to advanced for over 18 years. Teaching the different techniques for card making has brought me joy as I transform paper into an art form."

The cost of this one-hour workshops is $5.00 per student which includes materials to create one card at each class.  The fee has been reduced from $8.00 per class to $5.00; the Friends of the Library will subsidize the cost of this workshop.  

Seating is limited; Adults only.  Please plan to arrive 5 minutes before the start of class so that the program can start on time.  Registration and pre-payment of $5.00 (cash or check made payable to The Friends of the South Brunswick Library) for each class is required at the Information Desk until 5:00 p.m. the day before the class. The fee is non-refundable because the materials have to be purchased in advance; you can find a substitute.

Mark your calendars and join us at the library on the third or fouth Wednesday of the month as we expand our knowledge and open our minds with compelling and entertaining documentaries or lectures on culture and the arts.

A six-class session of Tai Chi will be offered in the library on Wednesday evenings on May 22, 29, June 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2019.  The class will be geared towards beginners and returning students with some experience.  The classes are held in the Ellen Gambatese Room (the Octagonal Program room in the Children's Department) from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  

The cost of the six-week session will be $60.00 and payment is due at the time of registration.  Students must register for the entire six weeks; no refunds will be given once the class begins and no partial payments are allowed. You can register in-person at the Information Desk and pay with a check or money order made payable to The Friends of the South Brunswick Library or you can register and pay online by clicking on the Register button below.  On your registration confirmation page you will see a "BuyNow" button which you can use to pay with your PayPal account or a credit card.  You are not considered registered until payment is received.  We are sorry, but cash is no longer accepted.  Register now; space is limited. A minimum of four students required for the class to be offered.

A six-class session of Tai Chi will be offered in the library on Wednesday evenings on May 22, 29, June 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2019.  

The classes are held in the Ellen Gambatese Room (the Octagonal Program room in the Children's Department) from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

The next session starts at the beginning of July, 2019.

Image result for adult coloring pagesCome to the library for our weekly "Color Me Calm" time of relaxation. conversation and adult coloring.  Materials will be available for mindfulness relaxation therapy while you color, draw and doodle OR catch up with friends and meet other fellow colorers OR bring your current craft project to work on with like minded friends.  Come release your inner child and enjoy a cup of tea!    

Adults only.  This is not a class; specific instruction will not be given.

Every Tuesday morning from 10:00 to noon you can come to color and draw OR you can bring your own craft project - knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing or other hand crafts.

Image result for throw pillowsWith a fresh supply of donated upholstery samples, we are going to again make throw pillows using the library's and consortium's sewing machines.  Since we will only have four or five machines, the class size will be limited.  If you have your own machine, please bring it to class.

The Adult Crafternoon program meets on the first Wednesday afternoon every month from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in Program Room 1A/1B, unless otherwise noted in this calendar.  Registration (below) is required.  The class is limited to 8 adults.  Unreserved and no-show seats will be filled on a first come first serve basis.  The doors will be closed at 1:40 p.m. and no one else will be admitted once the class begins.

Please plan to arrive 5 minutes early so that the class can begin on time.    Children will not be allowed in the classroom.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the South Brunswick Public Library.

A new five-week session of Mixed-Level Yoga and Meditation will be held on June 13, 20. 27, July 11 and 18, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.   There will be no class on July 4.

The cost of this five-class session is $60.00 payable at the time of registration.  

All registrations must be made before the start of the session on or before the first day of the class.  No partial or late payments will be accepted. 

The class includes a one-hour period of Yoga instruction, with variations in difficultly suitable for new to experienced practioners, and with a half-hour of meditation to follow.  There is another, separate Beginner/Intermediate Yoga class taught by another teacher following this class at 7:30 p.m.  The classes are not interchangeable; you must attend the same session for which you registered for the entire five weeks. 

Payment for this session ($60.00) can be made in person at the Information Desk at the time of registraion by check or money order made payable to The Friends of the South Brunswick Library. You can also register online and pay by credit card by clicking on the Register button below.  On your confirmation page, you will see a PayPal Buy Now button that you can use to make a credit card payment. You will not be considered registered with a guaranteed place in the class until you have made your payment.  If there are not a minimum of five students registered and paid, the class may be cancelled.
