YWCA Racial Justice Task Force in collaboration with N-Cite Media Collective will be showing two 10-minute films, The Day I Said Goodbye and Looking From The Inside Out.  Both films were produced by local youth.  A panel discussion with the filmmakers and community discussion will immediately follow.

The Day I said Goodbye. Take a glimpse into the life of a Burmese refugee trying to create a new life...in a foreign country...with a whole new family.  This short documentary captures the tragic yet beautiful events that leads to two families, from two different cultures, to becoming one.   "This movie is a representation of how each and every single refugee has a unique story of their own journey to freedom". Muneera Issa, film producer.

Looking From the Inside Out.  This film looks at the power of that the media has on what beauty is and who can be beautiful.  Three young women courageously share their thoughts about growing up and trying to fit in, while still trying to challenge the definition of true beauty.  "I made this film because I wanted to show young women and their parents that being beautiful is being unique and being yourself.  No matter what you change about yourself on the outside will never cover up the beauty you have on the inside".  Katrese Anderson, film producer.
