We’ll welcome the New Year with recipes sure to take the chill out of January. Our cookbook for this month is The Savory Baker: 150 Creative Recipes, from Classic to Modern by America’s Test Kitchen.
This is how the club works: every month, pick up a copy of that month’s cookbook selection at the library. Choose a recipe to make and prepare it for the next month’s meeting. We will sample each other’s dishes and discuss our cooking experiences. If you would like to join the Cookbook Club, register here and then drop by the library to pick up a copy of the book.

Filmmaker and drone photographer David Lawlor will offer a screening of his 30-minute documentary on the history of the Ann & Hope mill building in Cumberland. The original Ann & Hope was a merchant ship, but over time, the owners decided instead to invest their capital in the local, booming textile industry, adding yet another large mill to the Blackstone Valley. The mills offered steady employment to a population that was accustomed to loud, dangerous, and difficult working conditions.
David Lawlor has a degree in film studies from Suffolk University. He is the founder of Run of the Mill, a company that specializes in drone and traditional photography. A devoted advocate of abandoned mill buildings, he tries to photograph their industrial features before they are repurposed to other uses.
