We are so pleased to bring John Fontana, NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador, to Woodbury.  Did you know over 17 Apollo spacecraft have been planned, 6 of which put men on the Moon?  Help us celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the first time man set his feet on another planet.  Learn about the rockets, the science, and the amazing beginnings and continuation of our relationship with this fascinating “Heavenly Body”.  See a demonstration of how gravity works!  Have your photo taken with a large astronaut cutout that kids (even adults) can share on their phone with friends for bragging rights.

Join us for this second “Universe of Stories” workshop with John Fontana, NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador, and expand your planetary knowledge!  Mars, the red planet, has captivated our imaginations for decades.  NASA began planning for spacecraft research in 1993, when the Mars Exploration Program (MEP) was formed.  See models of the Rovers that were sent into space to gather data to educate us about this mysterious sphere.  BONUS:  we will learn about the 2018 discovery of the planet Vulcan, too!  (You don’t have to be a Star Trek fan to enjoy this exciting and inspiring presentation…)

Sfields is a photographer and digital artist working out of Monroe, New York. Sarah has participated in the “Art @ Your Library” program before, most recently in August of 2018. This current collection of digital photographs is an exercise in identifying the self within the animal kingdom. Heritage Craft Series with Cheryl Riccardi continues.... Learn weaving basics, how to measure the warp thread, read a pattern and dress the loom.
There will be several different types of looms to try. Instructions will be provided to make a simple frame loom. You will also make a bookmark to take home. All materials will be provided.
