Senior Session Mystery Book Club's next book is Magpie Murders by Anthony Hurowitz

Join us for a lively discussion of this novel. This month, we will be meeting at the Library and not the COA.

Dungeons and Dragons: Session Zero

Trying to get into Dungeons and Dragons but don't know where to start? HPL has got you covered! Join us on Wednesday, June 21st beginning at 5:00PM to learn from an experienced Dungeon Master and player! We'll be covering the basics such as: character creation, combat, lore, story telling, materials you'll need and the basic rules! 
 

This program is open to tweens, teens and adults. (ages 11 and up!)

If you have younger children looking to learn, they are more than welcome - although they'll have to be accompanied by an adult!

Since 2010, co-founders Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards have organized an annual non-profit bipedal concert tour of Massachusetts in support of arts and culture for towns throughout the state.

Both artists are products of central Massachusetts mill and factory towns, and for all their national exposure as performing songwriters, they are passionately dedicated to the region and what it has to offer. Each summer since 2010 they have organized the “Massachusetts Walking Tour” where they hike the roads and trails of the Commonwealth, more than 100 miles in less than two weeks, in support of the arts in local communities along the way. Each evening they stop over in yet another Massachusetts town, putting on a free concert there, along with local performers and fellow artists who accompany them on their journey. These annual two-week treks also raise awareness of the trails and greenways in Massachusetts, using music to make important connections.

Tween Craft Club

First up: Wish bracelets! The idea behind a wish bracelet is that you make a wish and tie it on. Eventually, the hemp wears out and you will lose the beads;  Which sounds sad, but when this happens, your wish is then “released” and is supposed to come true. A fun take on the friendship bracelets!

What a fun way to combine two great loves - gardening and reading!  In this program, we will be using old books and upcycling them into planters for succulents.  Everyone will be able to choose a book, a few succulents, and some decorative fillers to create their own unique planter.

     Learn to paint a lazy sloth while enjoying a fun drink! Paint & Sip Jr. is a program for grades 5 and up that teaches the basics of copying a painting from example. We will trace out the basic structure of the sloth, then use paint to make it look just how we want!

Teen Craft Night: Diamond Art Suncatchers 

Diamond painting is a simple and addictive hobby that has taken the crafting world by storm!

Creating a sparkling masterpiece is as easy as affixing vibrantly colored resin rhinestones to a self-adhesive canvas with a diamond art kit. The canvas is printed with the design as well as symbols to let you know exactly which color to place in each spot. 

Suitable for all levels of crafters! Join us as we make Diamond Art Suncatchers, eat some pizza, and hang out with friends!

Stuffed Friend Picnic 

 Did you know that every year in July, people all over the world celebrate "Teddy Bear Picnic"?! 

Join us at the Holbrook Public Library on Saturday, July 22nd starting at 12PM for our very own celebration of this adorable holiday! Bring your stuffed friend (all stuffed friends are welcome - doesn't have to be a teddy bear!) and your own blanket! We'll be crafting, reading a story, and engaging in games with our stuffed friends as well as our human friends! 

Program suggested for ages 3-8 with an accompanying parent or caregiver! 

*This is an outdoor event taking place on the library lawn. In the case of rain, we'll be moving the picnic indoors!

  Resin Mosaic Trays

We are going to explore the use of epoxy resin as we create a mosaic serving tray with iridescent glass pieces and upcycled cds.   Pieces will need to be left in the library for 24 hours to cure.  After that, everyone will leave with a beautiful and functional piece of art!

Open to ages 18+.  Space is limited to 15 attendees.  Registration is required to attend.

ASL Academy: Introductory Course

Join Manuel from the American Sign Language Academy for an introductory course to ASL.

This event is being held in-person at the Holbrook Public Library on Saturday, July 29th from 11AM - 11:30AM

American Sign Language (ASL) is a complete, natural language that has the same linguistic properties as spoken languages, with grammar that differs from English. ASL is expressed by movements of the hands and face. It is the primary language of many North Americans who are deaf and hard of hearing and is used by some hearing people as well.

Registration is required for this event! 

Have you wanted to explore Diamond Painting, but didnt want to commit to a large project?  Here is your chance!  We will be making a Diamond Painting Suncatcher.  This is a great way to try it out. to see if the meditative qualities help with stress reduction, and focus on self care.

Want to bring some light into 2023? Come make some lotus lanterns with us! A member of the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project (“KSCPP”) will show us step by step how to make a traditional Korean lotus lantern via Zoom followed by the showing of a documentary film.

This is a limited space program and each attendee must register separately. All who register are expected to join us either virtually or in-person on Saturday, November 11 at 12pm . PLEASE NOTE, THIS EVENT IS FOR TEENS AND ADULTS.

An email will be sent within a week of the event for materials pick up. This event could be virtual using Zoom or hybrid. That information will be shared in the kit availability email.
