7th Annual Lexington MLK Day of Service

The Town of Lexington will hold its 27th commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with its 7th Annual MLK Day of Service by shepherding our community to take part in assisting those in need. Our objective is to engage and mobilize people of all ages to participate in events and activities to serve others. United in philanthropy under the auspices of the Town Celebrations Committee, our target this year is to serve 2,500+ people through 700+ volunteers.

MLK Day Program

  • From 9-10:30 (doors at 8:30) at Grace Chapel, The Town of Lexington Human Rights Committee presents the annual Community Conversation on Race. This year's focus is "The Necessity of Discussing Race and Racism with Your Own Family at Home." Featuring expert guidance by carefully selected lecturers, the presentation will also include the opportunity to join with your friends and neighbors to strategize and support one another in this journey with the shared goal of raising the next generation of thoughtful global citizens who are prepared for the 21st century economy.
  • 11 a.m. Unity Walk from the Minuteman Statue at the Lexington Battle Green to Cary Memorial Hall. Come and join our community in this fun and symbolic show of unity and solidarity in the name of equality and social justice.
  • 11:15 a.m. at Cary Hall Commemoration Program and Musical Performances – Brief and uplifting performances by Lexington literary performer Regie O’Hare Gibson, Middle School essayists and the Special Needs Arts Program (SNAP) Sing Along Chorus.
