The Magic of Pastel: An Introductory WorkshopSaturday October 9, 2021
10:00 AM until 12:00 PM
In this two-hour workshop, designed for beginners and aspiring artists, we will use pastels to explore the importance of value and how to simplify what you see and not get stuck on details.
Students will be asked to paint from a photograph that initially looks like an abstraction. As additional photos are used of the same subject that are more and more in focus, the painting evolves into something recognizable. Focusing on value and composition, we will paint the image together as the instructor guides students to complete the work. The resulting artwork will delight and inspire participants.
This program, free and open to the first eight registered (12 if done onsite), is sponsored by the Acton Boxborough Cultural Council (ABCC) and receives grant funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Workshop materials will be provided at no cost.
This workshop is planned as an onsite program with masks required. However, if needed and to keep everyone safe, the workshop may be changed to a virtual workshop. We will confirm the delivery format two weeks prior to the workshop.
